Finance Assistant

Venture Recruitment Partners are assisting an exciting and internationally operating leisure business based in Chineham with their recruitment for a Finance Assistant on a permanent basis. This role would suit someone currently working in an Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable role in a large company looking for a career development opportunity.

In 2018, the business took the decision to establish a ‘best in class’ Shared Service Centre based in Basingstoke. A project is now underway to bring a large number of global finance roles into Basingstoke creating a huge amount of opportunity for people to develop and progress their careers. Each team will be large and as the business continues to bring divisional finance roles into the Shared Service Centre more roles will need to be created in Basingstoke to support this. The successful Finance Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key business stakeholders internally and externally
  • Maintaining all financial controls and systems within your role
  • Ensuring all key tasks are completed to scheduled timelines and in line with accounting policies
  • Taking ownership of balance sheet accounts and reviews with Finance hub managers
  • Preparation of monthly journals
  • Accurate and timely month end reporting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Intercompany accounting and reconciliations
  • Supporting preparation of daily, weekly and monthly flash reports in line with the centralised reporting strategy
  • Supporting indirect tax, local tax and ad-hoc statistical reporting
  • Liaising with internal and external audit teams


The ideal candidate for the Finance Assistant job will have:

  • Exposure to working for a large, corporate business
  • Experience working with either the Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable process
  • Good Excel skills
  • Experience of month end close process
  • Proactive mindset, with experience working in a flexible and changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail with a proactive approach to obtaining appropriate supporting evidence
