Financial Controller

Job Description

Our client is an established business who have recently had PE backing with strong growth plans, expanding its existing sales operations in the UK, USA and Europe further. This role will involve being apart of the Senior Management team, with you attending board meetings and assisting with the development of the business.


  • Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely production of the monthly profit & loss accounts and Balance sheets, Cash-flow, KPIs and supporting schedules the business
  • Co-ordinate and run the review of financial results against business activity levels to ensure that all significant costs are captured and accrued for in a timely manner
  • Compare actual results against forecast, budget, and prior year results and provide the monthly management commentary
  • Produce and improve cash forecasts for the business, monitoring performance against bank covenants
  • Preparation of VAT, and Intrastat returns
  • Monitor business controls and propose improvements where necessary
  • Interface with the rest of the Finance team, and support the Senior Management team with ad hoc tasks as required
  • Manage the payroll and one other staff member


  • Must hold a professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Experience in financial accounting and having a proven record of demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and technical skills
  • Practical experience of Payroll and VAT returns
  • Must have excellent Excel skills with strong communication skills
