Meet the guest speaker:
Rachael Brealey – Vice President of Strategy and Analysis
Rachael’s passion is working for a business that brings magical experiences to people that enable them to make memories that last a lifetime. This passion was built during 12 years at Merlin Entertainments as Developments Finance Director in Merlin Magic Making. Rachael’s ambition as a commercially astute finance professional is to ensure that the business is a profitable one.
During her time at Merlin, Rachael was responsible for the Financial Investment Appraisal of all Capital Projects c£350m. Projects ranging from re-imagining existing Attractions, building Hotels, Rollercoasters and Aquariums to entire Lands in Theme Parks. Working alongside IP owners such us Sony, BBC, Magic Light, and Marvel. Rachael was a key player in the roll out of Merlin’s Midway Attractions worldwide and working collaboratively with Creatives and Project Managers successfully opened 51 new Attractions across 3 continents in 7 different languages over the course of 6 years.
- 10 Madame Tussauds, 25 Legoland Discovery Centres, 10 Sea Life Aquariums,5 Dungeons and 1 Shrek’s Adventure
In recent years Rachael has been working as Finance Director, Resort Theme Parks responsible for setting the 5-year strategy alongside the Divisional Director and Marketing Director.
- Warwick Castle – implementing a Commercial Strategy ‘Warwick Castle Live’.
- Chessington World of Adventures – defining a 5 year Mega Resort Strategy including the newly opened World of Jumanji.
- Thorpe Park – building on the Product with an expansion to the award winning Fright Nights and a new Rollercoaster to open in 2024.
Prior to joining Merlin, Rachael worked at IBM in Mergers and Acquisitions where she led the Finance team for the integration of 14 companies across Europe.
