A highly acquisitive and expanding services organisation is seeking to recruit a Qualified and experienced people manager to join their team as Group Financial Controller. This is a search for a proactive professional who can provide strong financial leadership, ensure robust governance, and support strategic decision‑making across a multi‑entity group.

About the Role

The Group Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organisation’s financial health and ensuring the integrity of all financial operations. Working closely with the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will oversee group-wide financial controls, reporting, compliance and manage the financial operations team (remotely).

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone to broaden their experience and utilise their technical accounting skills in a dynamic environment. It would suit someone making their first move from professional practice at Manager level (with strong people management experience) or someone making their second move post practice, in a commercial business. Equally candidates who have worked for a similar sized business (£100m t/o) in a technical accounting role would be of interest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the accuracy and integrity of statutory financial reporting across the group.
  • Ensure compliance with financial standards, tax legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Manage group cash flow and liquidity.
  • Oversee and develop group finance systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews and financial health reporting.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Lead the annual audit process for a large multi‑company group.
  • Oversee statutory accounts preparation in partnership with external advisors.
  • Ensure effective tax management across direct and indirect tax areas.
  • Maintain procurement controls and oversee insurance relationships.
  • Manage the group fixed asset process and ensure efficient resource deployment.
  • Line‑manage both AP/AR Managers remotely and provide leadership to a wider transactional finance team indirectly.

Experience, qualifications and skills

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Strong technical accounting experience to ensure vigorous financial control and compliance for the business.
  • Excellent people management experience and a confident approach
  • Process and systems improvement focused.
  • Analytical ability and first-rate communication skills with a down to earth and collaborative approach
  • High levels of integrity and career focused.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000

25 days annual leave plus birthday leave, hybrid working 50/50 office /home, 9-5 hrs and a comprehensive benefits package.
