Group Internal Auditor

Venture Recruitment Partners are assisting an exciting and internationally operating leisure business based in Chineham with their recruitment for an Internal Auditor on an initial 9-month contract basis.

In 2018, the business took the decision to establish a ‘best in class’ Shared Service Centre based in Basingstoke. A project is now underway to bring a large number of global finance roles into Basingstoke creating a huge amount of opportunity for people to develop and progress their careers. Each team will be large and as the business continues to bring divisional finance roles into the Shared Service Centre more roles will need to be created in Basingstoke to support this. Responsibilities of the successful Internal Auditor:

  • Complete risk assessments ahead of on-site fieldwork.
  • Deliver the programme of work covering both financial and operational procedures while on-site and keep all stakeholders up to date.
  • Document and test key processes and related controls to establish their effectiveness.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Verbally present findings in a clear and concise manner to senior management.
  • Follow up on audit issues to ensure appropriate and timely resolution.
  • Prepare audit reports which are value adding, and gain consensus from all stakeholders to ensure recommended action is appropriate, proportionate and accepted.
  • Contribute towards the preparation of reports for presentation to senior management forums and the Audit Committee.
  • Manage and analyse the department’s continuous auditing programme.
  • Undertake interrogation of anomalies identified through trend analysis across large data sets.
  • Assist the team to continually develop the internal audit work programmes and procedures.
  • Deliver work in line with departments KPIs for audit planning, completion & reporting.
  • Assist in the investigation of losses or frauds, as required.
  • Provide internal consultancy type services around commercial related issues relevant to the business.


The ideal candidate for the Internal Auditor job:

  • Professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent)
  • Proven track record as part of the third line of defence (independent assurance)
  • Experience building relationships at all levels of the organisation
  • Reporting and engaging effectively with senior management
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Shared services assurance provision experience
  • Experience operating in large, international organisations
  • Willing to challenge existing business practice
  • Proactive self-starter and self-motived
  • Enthusiastic and driven
