Reporting to the Group FC for an international specialist manufacturing and defence business this brand-new role due to growth role involves providing financial oversight to the defence entities in Australia, the UK, and the US.

This role collaborates closely with senior management teams to influence the financial and business structure of the companies. It also takes the lead in managing the budgeting and forecasting process and is responsible for preparing monthly and consolidated management accounts.

 

Supporting one of their entities in a newly created role, key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Spearhead the development and implementation of robust financial systems and controls ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices,
  • Take ownership for financial operations, policies and procedures, including general ledger review, posting month end journals and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, revenue recognition adjustments and project accounting.
  • Provide oversight of the financial operation and performance forging strong working relationships with their back-office finance service providers to optimise performance.
  • Prepare monthly entity and consolidated management accounts and Group Template reports against budget, highlighting key performance indicators, financial trends and potential areas for improvement, within the established Group reporting timeframes.
  • Lead the entity and group annual budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating closely with the company’s executive management team to drive strategic financial planning.
  • Become a valuable business partner to management, presenting relevant performance metrics and offering vital financial insights to aid decision making and drive profitability.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital and liquidity requirements, ensuring that each entity has sufficient funds to operate effectively and efficiently and meet financial obligations.

 

About you:

We’re seeking a high calibre individual who is ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW qualified with a couple of years PQE. Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build productive relationships with stakeholders; have worked for a products-based business (preferably defence, manufacturing or engineering) and in a high growth environment. Experience of implementing accounting systems and controls is key and experience of multi currencies and working for an international business a real preference.
