Tax Accountant – Hampshire

Venture Recruitment Partners are proud to have partnered with a purpose-driven, highly regulated organisation to recruit a Tax Accountant into their Group Finance team in Andover. This is a pivotal role within the tax function, reporting directly to the Group Tax Manager, and offering genuine exposure across a complex, multi-entity group.

The Role
As Tax Accountant, you’ll play a central role in ensuring accurate, timely and compliant tax reporting across the group, supporting both statutory and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of draft tax reporting, returns and payments across:
o Corporation Tax (including quarterly CT and deferred tax forecasts)
o VAT
o Insurance Premium Tax (IPT)
o Payroll and employment taxes
- Ensuring tax reporting for all legal entities is accurate, robust and fully compliant with HMRC legislation
- Supporting regulatory tax obligations, including Solvency II and Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) requirements
- Acting as a key point of contact for day-to-day tax queries across Finance, HR and the wider business
- Providing employment tax support and advice, working closely with HR on contracts and policy compliance
- Supporting tax audits and HMRC compliance visits, liaising with external auditors and advisors
- Maintaining high-quality tax data, controls and reconciliations within ERP and tax systems (e.g. D365, Alpha Tax or similar)
- Preparing tax calculations and contributing to stress testing and effective tax rate optimisation
- Supporting in-house tax training and helping manage tax risk in line with the group’s risk appetite
About You
This role would suit someone who:
- Is CCAB qualified (ACA / ACCA / CA or equivalent) with strong UK tax compliance experience
- Has solid knowledge of UK direct and indirect taxes, including Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE and ideally IPT
- Has experience working in a regulated environment (e.g. financial services, insurance, healthcare or similar)
- Are comfortable preparing tax returns, forecasts and reconciliations within complex or group structures
- Has experience working with ERP systems and tax reporting tools (D365 or equivalent)
- Can confidently communicate tax matters to non-finance stakeholders and build trusted working relationships
- Is proactive, detail-focused and able to balance compliance with commercial objectives
Experience of Solvency II, FCA/FSA environments and IPT is highly desirable but not essential.
