Personal Tax Manager – UK & US Clients

Overview
We are working with an independent tax solutions firm based in Winchester, whoa are seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager to join the team. This role will focus on managing a portfolio of UK personal tax clients, including individuals with UK and US tax filing obligations.
The successful candidate will have strong experience preparing UK self-assessment tax returns, as well as experience working with US citizens or US-connected clients with tax return requirements in the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys client-facing work and wants to play a key role in delivering high-quality tax services within a collaborative independent practice.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients including high-net-worth individuals, expatriates, and business owners

Prepare and review UK Self Assessment tax returns

Prepare or oversee UK tax returns for US citizens and US-connected individuals

Liaise with clients regarding their UK and cross-border tax obligations

Provide tax planning advice to clients where appropriate

Ensure compliance with HMRC deadlines and filing requirements

Review work prepared by junior staff where applicable

Support partners with complex personal tax matters

Maintain strong client relationships and act as a key point of contact
Requirements

Significant experience in UK personal tax compliance

Experience preparing UK tax returns for US clients or US citizens living in the UK

Understanding of cross-border tax issues affecting US taxpayers in the UK (e.g., foreign income reporting)

ATT / CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Excellent communication and client relationship skills

Ability to manage deadlines and multiple client engagements
Desirable Experience

Experience with US tax filings (Form 1040, FBAR, FATCA reporting)

Experience working with expatriate or internationally mobile clients

Previous experience managing or reviewing junior staff work
