The Labour Market Outlook for Summer 2023 provides invaluable insights into the current state of the UK labour market:
Net Employment Balance:
The balance remains stable at +28, signalling a consistent job market. A positive balance between employers expecting to increase staff levels and those expecting reductions, suggests that the employment landscape remains favourable for job seekers.
Expected Pay Rises: Particularly noteworthy is the public sector, where expected pay increases have reached a new peak. Rising from 3.3% in the last quarter to 4% this quarter.
Counteroffers:- The past year has seen a surge in counteroffers made by employers. This trend highlights the competitive nature of the current job market and suggests that employers are going to greater lengths to retain valuable staff.
